March 14, 2020
Prompted by the recent announcement of a documented case in our region, this afternoon the Diocese of Gary released the following Bishop’s Letter to the Faithful from the Most Reverend Robert J. McClory.
March 13, 2020
Our prayers and thoughts are with all around the world affected by the Coronavirus disease 2019, COVID-19!
On March 13, the Diocese of Gary issued a press release, Diocese of Gary Press Release 03_13_2020, regarding the health and well being of the Northwest Indiana community.
Most importantly, Most Reverend Robert J. McClory dispensed the Catholic faithful from their obligation to attend Sunday Mass effective March 14-15, March 21-22 and March 28-29.
In advance of these directives, during the weekend of March 7-8, our parish temporarily suspended offering the Precious Blood during Eucharist and further, indefinitely suspended offering the Eucharist directly on the tongue. We have also temporarily suspended the Sign of Peace during services.
Also, following the Diocesan directives, all CCD classes at our parish have been suspended thru April 3. Likewise, the decision was taken to temporarily suspend our parish’s traditional “Treats after 10 am Mass” thru April 3. We are closely following the Diocese’s directives and will reinstate both the CCD Program and our time honored and beloved tradition of treats here at St. Ann of the Dunes as soon as the health concerns over the Coronovirus are abated!
We encourage you to read the Diocesan directives as well as following our local, state and federal government recommendations as currently released and updated on their websites and in news releases.
Our prayers go out for the intervention of God to protect the health of our community, our nation and the world!
